Inspired by the hand-cut lettering I found at the entrance of the Siena Cathedral during my summer studying abroad in Florence, Siragusa is a display typeface that brings centuries-old craftsmanship into a modern context.
Elegant and balanced, Siragusa reflects the precision of the Italian cathedral’s original stonework, with the warmth of the human hand. The original inscriptions, etched deep into marble, dating as far back as the 13th century, guided the design of Siragusa’s thin verticals and subtle curves, mirroring the cathedral’s Romanesque rounded arches and Gothic sharp verticals.
Designed for display, Siragusa’s unique and expressive form makes it ideal for headlines, signage, and packaging, elevating any design. Grounded in Siena’s long history of craftsmanship and devotion to detail, Siragusa is a typeface that honors its origins while creating something new, bridging the gap between carved stone and contemporary design.
